Winners of the 2018 Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Best Everyday Eateries were announced this week for the Western Cape, Gauteng and KwaZulu Natal. Here are a few of our favourites! 

Best Instagrammable cafe

Pajamas and Jam Eatery in Strand is filled with Instagram-worthy moments. Swirly latte art, flower crowns, luscious pastries and pastel coloured cakes are everywhere – and we can’t stop crushing on almost everything about this adorable little coffee spot.

Best coffee shop for dog lovers

Terbodore Coffee Roasters  in the KwaZulu Natal Midlands, is the ultimate coffee roastery cafe oasis that dog lovers have been looking for. The family’s Great Danes will welcome you with excitement, obviously proud to be the mascots of this award-winning coffee roastery. Bonus: there is a second Terbodore in Franschhoek.

Where chefs go to eat

Farro is the Joburg restaurants that Cape Town’s chefs can’t stop talking about (no, we’re not naming names). Contemporary European cuisine is the star, but the wine list and cocktails will ensure you go home feeling jolly. Our advice – give them a call, and book a table immediately!

Best steak in the suburbs

For the second year running, Rare Grill has taken home the prize for Best Steak House. The menu is simple, but the meat is sensational. If you’re trying to choose a spot for dinner in the foodie hub of Harfield Village’s Second Avenue – put Rare Grill on the top of your list!

Best for classy tapas dining

Gauteng’s Urbanologi scooped up the award for Best Tapas eatery, but there’s nothing basic about these small sharing plates! Layers of flavours are built on seasonal ingredients for a delicious dining experience.

Family Italian feasting

Cape Town has many great Italian restaurants, but A Tavola stands out for its family atmosphere combined with excellent service and sensational food. The menu offers something for everyone, and it may take you a few minutes to decide what you’re going to order. The zucchini fritti (crispy, deep-fried zucchini chips) are not to be missed!
