We’ve written about the non-alcoholic ‘alcoholic’ drinks trend before, and the movement has become so mainstream that even a festival called the Mindful Drinking Festival was hosted in Cape Town this year. Its ambition was to highlight the global mindful drinking movement that aims to make drinking non-alcoholic beverages more socially acceptable. There’s also substantial evidence showing that there’s been a shift, with younger people drinking less alcohol than before.
Under lockdown, socialising and celebrating has changed forever and may never be the same again. Many of us tipplers are now turning to alcohol-free beverages to recreate a sense of festivity, the responsible way.
“There is definitely a generational aspect to the change – Millennials certainly don’t drink as much as we did when we were younger,” Rosamund Dean, author of Mindful Drinking: How Cutting Down Can Change Your Life, told The Guardian.
