Ingredients (10)

fresh ginger
8 tsp Baking powder
1/2 tsp Cream of tartar
1 tsp salt
250 ml Buttermilk
4 tbsp butter
1 lemon — zest and juice
500 g flour
1 tsp salt
1 kg sugar

Method:

Mix all ingredients together to make a dough and leave for 15 minutes.

Roll out thin strips of dough and plait them.

Deep fry in oil.

Mix sugar and water on a low heat until dissolved.

Then mix in the other ingredients.

Put koeksisters in the sauce to soak.
