The Raj Indian Restaurants offers all the splendour of traditional North Indian cuisine.

The service is efficient and friendly and the food is undeniably the most authentic Indian cuisine available in the country.

The food is spicy, delicious and traditional with the menu offering a large variety of authentic Indian culinary styles such as Tikka Masala, Vindaloo, Korma and Bhoona.

The master chefs are all from India and bring with them at least seven proud generations of Indian culinary knowledge and tradition.

The Raj Indian restaurant group has brought a taste of real Indian cuisine to Johannesburg diners for some 16 years when Dr Arun Jairath, a practicing ophthalmologist, saw an opportunity to launch an authentic Indian restaurant.

From his medical training in the UK, where he enjoyed some excellent Indian meals in restaurants, he found nothing similar in South Africa.

The Raj in Kyalami, Johannesburg, was opened in 1996, with chefs, recipes, some ingredients and much of the decor imported from India. Soon after this in 1996 the Raj in Rivonia was launched.
