A girls night out called for a funky, relaxed evening – and The Woodlands Eatery fitted the bill perfectly! Is a hodge podge of mismatched everything but seriously charming and offbeat. I also felt slightly superior as we jumped the queue waiting for tables and were pointed in the direction of our tucked away table ensconced in the heart of the companionable buzz. The wine list is tiny but they did have a drinkable sparkling wine by the slightly parsimonious glass and an excellent rose by the very generous glass. The food was mostly fabulous – the onion rings done to perfection, great burgers and one of the nicest pizza’s I’ve had in a long time. Apparently the secret is in the carrots they add to the tomato sauce – whatever it is, it works. Disappointingly the kitchen does not do swopsies – we wanted sweet potatoes wedges instead of fries – and the service is only just OK, but do yourself a favour and book a table for a chilled evening with really good food and atmosphere.

Woodlands gets full marks for décor and ambience and seriously, if you're in search of true Cape Town eye candy, it's definitely a place to situate yourself. Food-wise, their burger patties are cooked to perfection and the chocolate fondant is a dream - however I struggle to convince myself that the vanilla ice cream it comes with, is homemade. Service is a bit "rushed" but friendly nonetheless. 3 words: Booking. is. essential

I made a booking at this restaurant a couple of years ago for my birthday and when i arrived my table had a vase of beautiful roses which was very thoughtful. i can recommend the lamb pizza, seared tuna, calamari & the pavlova is a winner! i havent tried anything else. This is a beautifully decorated restaurant and the fairy lights make it magical.

Love the cosy buzz that Woodland's has. Even though I won't ever order a cocktail there again (the plum and black cherry mojito is an insult to any self-respecting mixologist), the wild mushroom open lasagne is a vegetarian's dream! Pizzas are massive and the offering of craft beer is so extensive that it needs its own list. I just wish they would invest in decent stem-ware for us wine-drinking peeps!
