It's a very pleasant, short drive along the (Liesbeeck?) river, with teeming bird life, and green stretches dotted with happy dogs and their human servants; just before you reach the Wild Fig. The dining area is low-ceilinged,the ambience casual, and we felt very relaxed and comfortable. For mains I had the lamb shank, which was melt-in-the-mouth-falling-off-the-bone stuff, lip-smackingly as it should be. My husband had a penne dish which had chorizo, chicken and pesto, generously spiked with chilli, which he pronounced really good. However, I love vegetables, and the accompanying veg portions: a very small bowl of mixed veg, and three golfball-sized roast potatoes, whilst good, was way too little to be shared between two of us. Perhaps the restaurant's experience is that patrons don't have belly space left after finishing their ample mains. For dessert, my husband enjoyed his malva pudding. I had the choc chilli brownie with vanilla ice cream, which was okay. All in all, a very enjoyable meal, with pleasant staff, which no doubt is the reason why this venue is still open.

We had the most perfect evening here last night - and the best stuffed chicken breast ever. You can see why they are still around after so many years.
