@Andrea - you deserve what you got if you were dumb enough to pay a ridiculous R1150 for a meal/s at Roundhouse on New Years Eve. For that amount of money, all of you could of eaten at a far better estaurant with less wind and much better food. Rstaurants like this survive because Cape Townians and tourists alike think that trendy restaurants is all about the being seen and to hell with the food and service. SERVES YOU RIGHT!!

@ Andrea - I am sure Roundhouse will do the right thing, surely a professional company such as them would not stoop so low.

We had booked a table for new years eve well in advance from Germany. The early correspondence shows that The Roundhouse did not declare it as an outside event. However, upon our arrival on the 31st, of December 2012 glasses, plates and food were literally flying off the tables due to strong winds (up to 100km/h). We had been shown to our table on the lawn. It was hilarious to see the other people trying to eat during the windy conditions. We did ask for a table inside the tent. However the staff refused to seat us there, because the tables were reserved for bigger groups. We decided to leave and were ensured by the staff that we would be contacted regarding the refund. Well, the refund never came through. So we paid for an event in advance at a restaurant, which is well know for its good food and professional service. However, they organized an important event and accepted more guests (200), they could handle in bad weather conditions. They came back and offered us an 500 Rand Voucher to dine at the restaurant. Insulting, considering that we had paid 6.600 Rand for 4 people the New Years Eve Party we were unable to enjoy.

I decided to re-visit The Roundhouse Restaurant on Friday evening with my girlfriend and we both opted for the 4 course a la carte menu with wine pairing. I have not eaten at The Roundhouse in almost a year and the food and service was flawless. The combinations of flavours, textures and beautiful presentation were an absolute treat. The food was even more unbelievable than my last visit and there seems to be a huge focus on seasonal ingredients and local produce. It is very rare to find such attention to detail in food and service. The paired wines were outstanding but I particularly enjoyed some of the alternative beer and brandy pairings which I found very refreshing. The front of house staff seems to really enjoy their trade and have the most incredible positive attitude and atmosphere. It was a truly unforgettable experience!

Great service - loved the personalised menus for everyone. The amuse bouche - just that - fun. The food was amazing. I will continue to recommend it highly to my overseas guests. Never had a bad review from those who have been.
