I went there for a special night and we were treated like royalty. We had the tasting menu with wine pairings and it was unutterable bliss. Yes, this kind of menu is expensive, and anyone not a foodie would probably not be happy, but for us the meal was fantastic and the night magical.

We wanted to eat at the Roundhouse for a work function lunch as I had heard the Roundhouse was excellent. We booked, but when we arrived we soon realised that lunchtime is served outside by the other restaurant on the property called the Rumbullion. The menus are photocopied and patrons are asked to mark what they want to eat on paper - this was not the top restaurant I had heard about. The menu was very basic with a lot more "snacky" type foods, and a cheese burger, fish and chips or some bone marrow dish. It was VERY light and quite dull, I was extremely disappointed. The staff were definitely not trained as they did not clear our empty glasses, or take away dirty plates very fast, they also forgot to bring eating utensils and seemed to need a lot of guidance from patrons on how this whole restaurant thing works. I would still like to visit the actual Roundhouse for dinner, but dont recommend Rumbullion at all!

Me and my freinds celebrated my birthday two weekends ago with the Winter Special Menu at the restaurant. WOW, what a steal! I had the creamiest of white bean soups (couldn't beleive that a soup could be that delicous!), a farmed salmon trout with smoked aburgine and an amazingly tender, slow cooked lamb shoulder that I tried to do myself at home last weekend (With avarage result). I finished my meal with a Souffle which could convert any dessert sceptic around! The service was exceptional, there is no restaurant in Cape Town that does anything similar, all the staff seemed to know our names after the waiter had taken the order? Every time we went out to smoke the waiter brought out our drinks on his silver tray that seemed to be attached to him. If this was their winter special, I can't wait to come back and try their tasting menu!
