The Corner Cafe (Durban)

It’s Green, with a capital G. The food is organic, the cappuccino machine is fired by wind power, the herbs and salads are picked from the back patio and there’s even a worm farm.  Yet, owner Judd Campbell has created a true neighbourhood café style.

The menu is simple, but then ordinary scrambled eggs don’t taste this good.

There is a limited range of fresh pastas, fancy sarmies, soups and salads each lunchtime; and a good array of home bakes completes the picture. Prawns with samp and beans are a surprising number one hit.

A bakery will be opening shortly in the one corner of the building, looking to include a range of gluten- and lactose-free breads.
