We arrived at Annex at about 1150 am on Sunday - the place appeared pretty cute and was bustling with activity. The waitress informed us that we couldnt have lunch...only breakfast ok well ..strange but at 1155 we still hadnt had breakfast so we agreed. 20 mins later we still didnt have our drinks - 3 hot chocolates and a beer. It took another 10 to see the chalk board menu - eventually we got our food - 55 minutes after entering the place!! Posibly the worst service ever - no glass for my beer - no knives and forks even after asking- nobody even wanted payment for the meal. Cmon guys lift your game the food wasnt bad but your service.....

What's a bookseller doing opening a restaurant? Is this an act of madness? In this case, I think it's a stroke of genius.Ann Donald, owner of Kalk Bay Books, has opened The Annex and based on my meal last night, I would say she has hit the jackpot. It's a wow. Honest to goodness cooking with style and soul, served up with flair. She brought Chef Tim Pick to Kalk Bay and deposited him in her kitchen and gosh, can this guy cook. Tasty, tasty, tasty.
