Had dinner there on Saturday night. We treated ourselves to a three-course meal and the food was excellent. Ox tongue starter simply the best! Lights were turned down a bit too low - struggled to see my food -but the fireplaces more than made up for that little complaint!

Thank you sooooo much, all at Societi. I will definitely bring a large group, as my 'group' of 7 had a special treat from the moment we walked in. Arriving way too early, we were welcomed, made comfortable and had an amazing meal. My beetroot soup was brilliant, and so were all the other starters. The Chateau-Briande sounded irresistable, so we ordered all-round. The portions were almost too generous, and absolutely melt-in the mouth delicious. The desserts were so tempting, it was impossible to make a choice, so we had a 'tasting' plate. Keep it up, every meal at Societi is a special occasion.

Had dinner at Societi with my girlfriend on Saturday night, and it was such a pleasure. The atmosphere was wonderful, and the food excellent. Risotto was very tasty, service excellent. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful evening.

Dear Debby Our sincere apologies for your disappointing experience on Saturday night. We have checked with your waiter on the evening, and he assures us that he asked the whole table how they were enjoying their meal, and he received glowing reports. We really wish you had said something on the evening so that we could have rectified it immediately. Once again our sincere apologies.

What a disappointment - Societi has left me completely underwhelmed. Visited the restaurant on Saturday night with a large group. While the evening started fantastically (complimentary bubbly and tapas in the bar, as a result of the restaurant messing up our booking), the main courses were a disappointment to most of us. I ordered a "main course" pasta dish, which comprised 7 pieces of cappelletti and what tasted (and looked) suspiciously like dollops of canned tomato dotted over it. Unexciting taste, unexciting presentation, and totally unsatisfying. I order pasta at a restaurant because I expect it to taste better than I can make it at home - but that certainly wasn't the case! I also think that R17 for 330ml can of soft drink is a joke (at the customer's expense). My boyfriend's risotto, while tasty, was also small and unsatisfying. Perhaps this is why "French people never get fat"! Seriously guys, there's nothing worse than a disappointing meal - especially when it's supposed to be "comfort food" like pasta or risotto. The idea is obviously to propel you towards ordering dessert as well. May return to Snug (the bar), but doubt we'll be going back to the restaurant. This seems to be one of the restaurants taking Cape Town for a ride - but there's far better value to be had elsewhere.

We often take advantage of their amazing pizza/Labia deal on a Tuesday night - pizza is always delicious and i have never come across such good, friendly, efficient service in Cape Town so consistently. Wonderful on a warms summer's evening sitting outside but a really cozy winter venue also.

I must agree with the comment posted by Donald Paul. I recently discovered this gem of a restaurant on my last visit to Cape Town. Excellent! I had a slow braised oxtail ravioloni that was orgasmic and still lingering in my taste buds ... so much so that I am going to re-create it this weekend!! Excellent location - service and sublime food xxxx Jan Tripepi

This is consistently my favourite place to eat and relax. Chef Stefan continues to create delicious meals, whether its a simple fettucine with lemon zest or the pork neck with pancetta. (I have even had his pasta dishes as a dessert - not because they're sweet but because I can't say no to them.) And, without fail, the service is is impeccable.

Karibu "Karibu is one of my favourite restaurants to pop in for a dinner that never disappoints. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed with a distinct South African feel that's both elegant and upmarket. The service is friendly and efficient - I always rely on the manager (Bruce) for meal recommendations which thus far has been spot-on, yet I'm sure the menu as a whole is good......"
