At this Garden Route gem, the distinctive country menu in a fairytale setting gives this beautiful restaurant an authentic old world feel. Visit Roosje van de Kaap and enjoy an innovative mix of starters, the essence of seafood preserved by the wood-fired oven, pan-seared fillet of beef, devilled chicken with a classic French reduction - a comprehensive spectrum of styles and tastes.

Set in an historical stable, the low reed ceiling, thick plastered walls and candlelit atmosphere all take you on a journey to a bygone era of the 18th and 19th centuries.

Freerk is in control of the kitchen, where an eclectic menu is prepared, representing a variety of cooking disciplines, from Cape Malay fare to classic French reductions.

The wine list is ample and informative with a mostly local selection.
