Went for dinner last night and was very impressed. Great service, lovely atmosphere and, more importantly, delicious food! Definitely recommend this restaurant and will be back!

Booked for dinner - three of us. This is Caveau revamped and under new owners. The name, Josephines Cookhouse, is ridiculous - why not plain Josphines? Looks nice but because they have lowered the ceiling it is very very very noisy - one has to shout accross the table. Food fairly inexpensive and OK'ish. The really annopying thing is that when one asks for a roll and butter one is directed to a section on the menu covering 'breads'. Essentially this means that one has to pay for some bread!!!!!!!!!. Our bread was R25. This is a nasty little rip off and sours the whole dining offer. Sorry, but that is cheap trick to earn a few bucks. Peter

Went to the cookhouse on Saturday, what a cool place-Couldnt agree with Alison more, by far the best Pizza I have had in SA & really original toppings. Service great and very attentive staff. Also a big plus-great value for money. A mate told me about "Flinstone Friday", he had a slow roasted lamb shoulder, I'm heading there this Friday!!! Fantastic!

Was there last night. Food and service were perfect. The pizzas are absolutely amazing- I hardly ever manage to finish pizzas usually, but with this pizza I just couldn't stop. Will definitely be back- I'm already having cravings!

After reading a review in the Sunday Times, we decided to try the new restaurant at the Josephines mill, the cookhouse. These guys used to be involved in the original Bravo in Mouille Point, we loved Bravo, esp the legendary square pizza's. Anyway, the review was well justified! It was very busy for a Monday night in the suburbs! Their massive fire place was roaring and the wood oven (in the middle of the dining area!) added to the awesome atmosphere. Service was very casual, yet attentive. The food was fantastic and so well priced. Myself and my wife tried the anti pasti plate and then both had hand made pasta dishes-so fresh and so good, the carbonara was the best I've had. Lots of vegetarian pasta options and all available in a starter or main course portion. Our friends had the bone marrow with sourdough and salse verdi, not for me, but they enjoyed. They both had pizza's and they looked amazing. The tiramisu was the perfect way to end a great evening! We will be back soon-hopefully this weekend!!

Its a lovely establishment. Pity they had no booking written down after I had called earlier and booked. Sat us upstairs which is not as welcoming as the rest of the place. Ordered the soup which was so salty I couldnt eat it. Couldnt send it back either as the waiters were all down stairs! Cool waiter though. Big apologies and the rest of the meal made up for the problems. Still not sure if I would go there again in a hurry.

The food in particular the squid and semolina gnocchi with sage butter were delicious. Pity upstairs lacks a vibe and downstairs was incredibly smokey from poor ventilation. Will be back but probably in summer.

Went to The Josephines mill for dinner, the cookhouse. Fantastic! I love both Societi Bistro & Brasserie and so glad they have opened in my area. Casual, fun and awesome Pizza's-made with sourdough bases and you can watch them make them-my kids loved this!!! Can't wait for the bar to open upstairs on the deck, great place for after work drinks!! Pricing very reasonable for the quality. My wife mentioned that her Roman style Gnocci was also devine. All round amazing and will certainly be back soon!!
