The worst Prawns ever. We were told that there was Calamari Heads on the seafoods platter, there wasn't. There wasn't mussels for our platter, but for another customers which arrived after us, there was mussels. Paying R25 for a small Apple Tiser is an overprised rip-off. We won't recommend this restaurant at all.

customer and the owner of a food franchise

We had the misfortune of having dinner at Jimmy Killer Prawns at Canal Walk on Sunday evening. We ordered a platter for 6 which costs R750 - not cheap. Before we ordered we had the owner at our table - very odd man indeed - I should have upped and left at that point like I wanted too!! The platter finally arrived. Everything on the platter was good except for the prawns -nothing killer about them. Powdery and tasteless. Apart from that my first prawn had a human hair on it!! I called the owner about the quality of the prawn & his response ws that"we have a prawn problem country wide". When I alerted him to the fact that I had eaten prawns the day before at Ocean Basket which were of superb quality and taste, his response was "they are a big franchise, they buy huge amounts and get the best whilst Jimmy's and everyone else gets the leftovers". I find it unacceptable that a franchise like Jimmy's can knowingly purchase a poor quality prawn but charge customers top dollar. I laboured the point and he was quite irritated and then sent me another platter of prawns - more powdery, pap prawns - no one touched them which is unusual - prawns are always never enough. His attitude was that of someone who has accepted that the prawns were terrible but that he offered an acceptable explaination fpor it. After paying the bill of over R1000 he gives us a card offering us a 50% discount if we return, order the same platter and the prawns are not up to standard!!! Is it just me or has this man completely lost his marbles?? He is a disgrace to the Jimmy's brand, in fact he should stay away from customers until he learns how to communicate in a way that protects the brand. I am interested in a response from the group.
