I have been going to this restaurant with various people over a long period of time, what a gem of a place, sorry you had a bad night but maybe you should address it with the lovely owners?

Ken, I have been eating there for years almost every Sunday. Its a bit of a ritual for a group of us to take the papers and have a long, lazy, tasty, cheap lunch at Fisherman's. I am sorry to hear about your nasty encounter and encourage you to let them know. They would be horrified to find you girlfriend had been ill. I hope it was a bug and not the fish because we have never been poisoned - not in over 12 years!! Part of the charm we find is the laid back service and bustling kitchen. Perhaps return with different expectations.

Had a sunday dinner at Fishermans Plate in chinatown/Cyrildene last night. We got what we expected in the sparse minimal restaurant setting, however we did not expect the waiters to be as clueless as they were. On recommendation by the manager/ real waiter who arrived to take our order we went for the prawn curry and clam dish. The prawns were well done and the clams tasty - however a few hours after getting home my girlfriend who had the clams went into serious food poisoning mode - she threw up painfully all night and was sick most of the day as well. Tasty food but not worth the bad seafood. Considering they are a seafood restaurant you would expect them to not serve seafood that's gone off. By the look of the kitchen though, we should have expected some food poisoning. I don't recommend you risk your health no matter the taste of the food.
