Led by talented local chef, Henrico Grobbelaar, Cavalli’s approach to cuisine can be described as ‘a contemporary take on the classics’, contextually driven, and encompassing a combination of freshness, flavour and flair.

Real, humble food cooked textbook style, paired with an expertly crafted local and international wine list, artisanal cocktail, craft beer and a notable selection of single malt whiskeys.

Herbs and a selection of vegetables on the menu are grown in the Estate's self sustained heirloom garden.

The restaurant is set to establish itself as a premier fine dining destination locally and internationally and is now open for lunch and dinner 4 days a week, Wednesday through Saturday for relaxed, generous Bistro lunch and Fine-Dining Dinner and Sunday Fine-Dining Lunch.

Open:
Lunch Wednesday - Sunday
Dinner Wednesday - Saturday

What a magnificent experience. From the drive through the estate, to the wonderful greeting at the door, we felt welcome and special. The wonderful thing about Equus Restaurant is that although it is a fine-dining establishment, it is not at all stiff, but rather an extremely pleasant and relaxed experience. Our Springbok Amuse Bouche was beautifully executed and was a wonderful way to start the meal. I opted for the Mushroom Starter and my partner the Salmon. 1 word. Sublime. For mains, my partner had the Beetroot dish ,which was fresh, flavorful and exciting. I had the Fish dish, which was fresh, well prepared and easily a firm favourite in my experience at Equus. Everything worked well on the plate- it was beautiful and the flavours and textures complimented each other very well. Not to mention the very grand presentation. Dessert was a Chocolate Fondant- perhaps one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Service is friendly and well informed. Overall, a wonderful experience, and I cannot wait to go back.

One has to be very careful as to your expectations of a restaurant. We went yesterday the 16th of March for a lunch experience - Equus is a fusion experience - well trained waiters and food where the visuals compliment the taste sensations. If you enjoy the ambiance of a sophisticated cullinary experience - be one of their patrons - life is all about choices. I had a great experience and it will be my choice to be one of their patrons again.

No fine dining. Pretentious, tiny portions. Zero stars

We went to Equus restaurant with friends for lunch in February and sat outside, wonderful views. The food was good but so little of it! We then went for an evening meal the following Friday. They did not put us on the table outside which I had booked 3 weeks before. We where sat inside which has no atmosphere. The ceiling is too high, the tables basic and no clothes. The meal was awful, very small portions. My husband had scallop. A scallop possibly cut in half was sitting on what looked like another scallop but turned out to be potato. We both had hake and asparagus for mains. Small portions of hake rolled up with an asparagus mousse filling, 2 very fine asparagus - awful. We arrived at 7pm and left at 7.50. We did however, have a floor show when a mouse scuttled across the floor! We will never have an evening meal there again. We may possibly have lunch, which is cheaper and you have fantastic views. Far to pretentious!!!

Service and food delightful, however am concerned that Equus has still not resolved the dangerous issue with their glass door! Being too short to see the line currently embossed on the door and the door not being effectively "set" to respond timeously to movement, I unfortunately injured myself when walking into it. Despite ice on offer and photographs taken and a commitment to address the issue urgently with the supplier, nothing has yet been done. I have just heard that last week, some friends of ours also frequented the restaurant and a young lady in their party, also walked into the door! I am awaiting a response to my email directly to Equus restaurant.
