Den Anker is by far top on my list for worst and rudest service ever received in a restaurant. Went there on Friday 8 Feb 2013 for a beer and decided to have a light lunch. When the waitress presented us with their full menu we asked if they serve any lighter meals during lunch. The waitress decided then that we are not worthy for their restaurant, and even though we decided to stay for lunch, asked if she can remove our menus and never asked to take our order. Her attitude was beyond believe. Worst is my husband was there the previous night with mining indaba clients and spent R1000's! Den Anker's beer menu is also not what it used to be with only a small selection of Belgian beer to select from, and as far as I am concerned that was the only reason they were still surviving on the V&A.

Never eaten there. Every time we go down to the Cape from MP, this place is a MUST for their beer!!!!!

This used to be one of the better restaurants in the V&A a couple of years back. Sadly this is no longer the case. The food and service are shockingly poor compared to how it used to be. Thursday was my third and last recent visit. Sad to see this once good restaurant in such decline.

I travel 750km to CT for their beers, amazing variety for a place in SA with some very good Trappist style beers, food not bad and their creme brulee is a winner. Service is not always consistent but some of the staff have obviously had training in serving and know their menu and beer menu well. Still my favourite eatery in CT but as said earlier, mainly its about the beer.
