What a wonderful evening at a very fine restaurant. We ate here a couple of years ago and the food quality is still the same. Highly recommend the haloumi & avocado steak. Superb quality meat.

@Pieter Well then Pieter, read the article on News24 or IOL. You were not eating springbok!!! Don't try to blame your supplier, if you do that I suggest you send you "chef" back to chef school. Pathetic!!

Spectacularly overpriced. I did not know venison could be as bland as what is served here. The springbok for R169 had zero flavour and the spinach side order tasted like a cheaper version of a McCain's frozen dish, in some phyllo pastry. The only decent thing was the wine, which was made far from the City Grill premises.

All i can say is AWESOME. From the starters to the dessert, everything was perfect. We were a table of 9 and they looked after us incredibly. I can highly recommend the Haloumi & Avocado steak, as well as the Ostrich Skewer. Creme Brûlée for dessert is a must. Definitely highly recommended.

I can't understand why this restaurant received good reviews elsewhere (and on your Food24 app). It was one of the worst eating experiences we've had -- made worse by the fact the food is so expensive. We were a party of six and two of us ordered ribs.The one portion was far bigger than the other. When we asked about it a man, presumably the manager, responded by saying that the kitchen staff should've checked they were both the same size then mumbled something about the bone density or some such rubbish. When we just stared, gobsmacked at his ridiculous response, he then reluctanty asked if he should bring more ribs to make the portions equal. The waiter missed two things we ordered and when one of us pointed out he brought ice in the Coke when there was a specific instruction not to HE GAVE A GLASS FOR MY FRIEND TO REMOVE THE ICE HERSELF. I can't get over that. My husband got a beer that was completely flat, which was replaced. The food was also a terrible disappointment. A R195 steak should be something special, this wasn't worth R50. We don't mind paying for good food. This was not good by a long shot. The quality of the ostrich, springbok and boerewors was mediocre at best. The food was cold and the vegetables actually quite inferior. I would rather go to Spur than back to this place. Yes, it is really that bad. Poor tourists. . .
