Too many restaurants that don't care.Certainly will not try this one .

Wow Chantelle that is a pity . I had the Best experience ever. My Kids had so much to do and were kept occupied while I enjoyed the fabulous live music. We try go there once a month atleast. I find the service and atmosphere very friendly

Sarah, I have indeed learnt my lesson. What I have read on Hello Peter yesterday, seems like im not the first to experience bad attitude and service from Chef and the Fatman. Apparently when they were in Fourways there food/service was good. Guess things have changed.

Chantele, while I can commiserate with you and well understand the embarrassment of selecting a venue that ends up being totally under-par, I cannot understand how (given the numerous warning signs you described), you didn't scrap the entire evening with this restaurant and move it to a different location. Yes, hindsight is a perfect science, but why suffer through function planning at a specific venue when the place clearly gives you the heebies before you have even got to the actual function? Maybe you also learned a lesson here. Shame on this restaurant, too, for spoiling this special birthday.

The best food and entertainment.

In February, I made a booking with Nicky Da Costa (Manager) for Chef and the Fat Man to host a 30th Birthday on the 23 March 2013. When setting the menu we agreed on the meals that will be served at our table as they were to be printed on the themed menu that would be available on the table. When I arrived home, I had a look at your menu and prices on your website and discovered that Nicky had overcharged me on the quote. I phoned to find out if she can revise the quote to the prices as displayed on your website and waited almost a week for a reply. I received her reply with the revised quote and noticed she had taken the Lamb Potjie off. Nicky did not consult with me about this and the menu's were already printed with the meal options listed. I replied to her email asking why she had removed the meal from the quote and never received a response from her side. I then phoned her about 4 days later and requested that she include the Lamb Potjie and that we would then notify our guests that we estimated approximately R150 a head however there had been an error with the meal planning and that all meals would be charged individually. When some of our guests requested the Lamb dish, they were advised that the restaurant did not have stock and that the chefs were not informed about the possible meal requestion. When some of the same guests requested the Creme Brulee, they were once again disappointed to be informed that the restaurant never had stock. In addition, there were multiple complaints about the chicken tasting bland and waterlogged as if it had come out of the freezer as well as the steak being served cold nevermind the fact that we waited almost 90 minutes for our meals!!! On the 23 March 2013, Nicky was to oversee all the preparations of which she showed little involvement. Everything I had discussed with her was a waste of my time as she showed absolutely no interest at all to my requests. We later had another member of staff take over from Nicky as Nicky was occupied with another table and appeared more interested in their conversation the entire evening and not once did she adhere to her duties as manager. During the evening, not once did ANY management come over to our table of 20 GUESTS and ask if the food/service etc was alright? When we recieved the bill, we were charged R320 for the snack platters however we were quoted R280 a platter. That alone shows the lack of communication as displayed by Nicky. I do not complain about much but something like this needs to be mentioned as it not only ruined everything I worked so hard to prepare for my boyfriend 30th birthday dinner but has also created an embarrasment on me with our friends, family and guests for selecting such an inconsiderate venue to host a milestone birthday. This is something that will never be erased from our memories all thanks to the ignorant staff that you employ.
