Their recipes and method for making gelato is completely natural, using only three ingredients: milk, sugar and natural flavours - no colorants or preservatives. They make 14 flavours in rotation with the basics, such as vanilla, chocolate and pistachio, always present. At their Restaurant Ritrovo, which is next door, they also make egg-based, custard ice creams to hold their richer, liquor-infused flavours like zabaglione and Amarena Wild Cherry and they sell 8 flavours in tubs at their Moreleta Motors BICCCS in Rubenstein drive. Giovanni Mazzone (Father in the father-son, Mazzone duo), who was taught to make gelato by his father at their family gelateria in Italy, oversees all the ice cream production.
Royal Danish Home Made Ice Cream
Their Ice Cream is made using a traditional Danish recipe and only the finest ingredients, and are served in their enchanting, homemade wafer cones. They’ve been around for 26 years and in that time have moulded over 30 delicious flavours to perfection. Favourites include strawberry and peppercorn, mocha almond fudge, butter pecan and apple pie.
Aroma Gelato and Waffle Lounge
Just the name will have your mouth watering. They offer over fifty different flavours including New York cheese cake, salted buttered caramel and biscotti cookie gelato as well as superb blood orange and pink grapefruit sorbets, all of which vary from milk-based to water-based gelato. Their gelato is made by slowly churning the mixture so that it tastes richer and creamier and using only real fruit, nuts and chocolate.
