So I returned for a follow up visit at Sevruga for lunch on Wednesday. The food again was awesome, and the service has improved since my last visit. But again the bill was wrong, and the table I booked was given to other diners - fortunately there were other tables available.

I've visited this restaurant frequently in the last few weeks. The food, service and location are all fantastic. However, they have a habit that has really left a bitter taste in my mouth: going over my bills I've noticed that when you order mineral water they automatically bring the most expensive bottle available - sometimes double the price of local water. When confronted the waiters usually say that the cheap water is not cold. This is a small issue, but an annoying one, because it gives the impression that management are quite willing to rip the customers off if they feel they can get away with it. This attitude spoils an otherwise outstanding establishment.

Just been reading all the comments below....
We have overseas guests and have been looking at restaurant options to take our guests to.
I see the last comments were in September. Has anyone been there lately, and if so, has the service improved?
Also, I see there is no menu option to review the menu on the web. Can anyone please comment on the food - is it only seafood, what are the options, quality and what is the price range for food and wine?

Hi Andrew, I would really like to apologize on the service that you received on Friday night. Please could you perhaps give a little more feedback. As for the incorrect bill, I will follow up on that straight away and want to thank you for letting us know.

Had dinner at Sevruga on Friday night. The food and decor is awesome, a pity about the service which is seriously lacking... felt like two star service in a five star restaurant, not a good combination. Got our bill horribly wrong as well. Need to jack up the service a lot before we return.

The Sevruga half-price cocktail and sushi special is great value for money and very yum! I was very impressed with the beautiful decor as well, but the service could do with a bit of polishing. Hopefully it will be better next time I visit, which I'm sure will be soon!

And here is the third cent! We were a table of four at Sevruga last Sunday. We were fortunate to be seated outside on the terrace. Yes, the place was packed and although we hadn't realised to book, the hostess made a plan for us. When we waited a while for drinks the manager, who we called to the table, apologised and got the order out efficiently. I don't recall all the staff that served us names, however the overall feeling was that the people really wanted us to feel looked after. There is passion in the place and especially from the people (and manager) that looked after us. The food couldn't be faulted, we had some of the superb sushi, and my husband was supremely impressed by the kingklip and lango platter. The chef also came over to enquire whether we had enjoyed the food. The view is to die for, the vibe totally cosmopolitan without being too pretentious. Were going back this Sunday, we have already booked.

I would like to add my two cents. I think you would be making a mistake to end your specials as this is a draw-card to get people into your restaurant, the problem is not with the special, it is with your floor/bar not being adequately staffed to handle. This is doing more harm to your brand. If I were to come for the special - which is extremely reasonable, and was provided with awesome service and a great customer experience, I would be back for dinner at "full price". Your brand is your people as well as what you have to offer!

Thank you for the reply Oscar. I don't know if the lack of service had anything to do with your special, I think staff in all areas should be trained to cope when/if the restaurant is at capacity, which it wasn't.
And, no, I'm not a waitress at Stardust.

Hi Claire - just a short note to apologize for your bad dining experience. Yesterday was the first time our bar was really busy, but I agree, that is no excuse, we should have charged you. We will be stopping the half price sushi and cocktails as soon as possible in the V&A so that we will not have to deal with situations such as the one with you yesterday. Apparently you are a waitress at Stardust? hope to see you there soon.

I have been to Sevruga twice now, each time the service has been shocking. The first time I put the lack of service down to the fact that they had just opened. Yesterday, however, myself and friends decided on Sevruga for a late lunch and cocktails. When we arrived we said that we would be joined by a few more people, they said its fine they would sort out a bigger table for us and we were seated at a 6-seater. Once all 13 of us were there, we, the guests, were forced to set up our own table by moving around their furniture. We placed our orders at 4:50pm. When nothing had arrived by 5:40pm I went to the manager and explained that we had been waiting for almost an hour. Not even an offer of water or explanation. He said he would sort it out. By almost 6pm, I went back to the manager and explained that we were now on the brink of cancelling our orders and dining elsewhere. He said his waiter had messed up our order. I asked that he please sort it out perhaps apologise to our table. Needless to say he didn't come. Two cocktails then arrived, the waiters could not tell us which they were or who they were for. So they were literally passed around our table until somebody claimed them.. By the time the last cocktail arrived (mine) everyone had finished theirs. Then our sushi arrived. By this time we just wanted to leave. Then the waiter said that the manager was sorry and here were some complimentary platters of sushi, tempura prawns and Springbok shooters? Now, I do appreciate the effort in trying to make it right, but we'd just eaten sushi, we didn't want more. We just wanted to leave; now we sat obliged to finish this huge amount of food. I eventually asked for the bill wanting nothing more than to leave and we were told that the bill had been comped by the manager. So we tipped the waiter and left.
It was a really bad experience and unfortunately I won't be back.

Ate at Sevruga last night (30th) and was blown away by the outstanding service, excellent food (table of 4 and we all enjoyed our meals thoroughly). Prices also not bad for this upmarket new eatery. Hope they dont put up their prices before summer. Loved it.

Great food, ambience and service. Only thing didn't like is when asked for a gin and tonic got served Bombay Sapphire. Yes it's a good brand but the norm is to request a brand like that, most restaurants usually serve you with Gilbeys or Gordons gin, other than that minor wrongdoing, everything is superb.
