    green asparagus, cut into 10 cm lengths
  • 800

    calamari steak, cut into 10 x 12 cm rectangles
  • 15
    ml
    tare sugar
  • 30
    ml
    sake
  • 15
    ml
    mirin
  • 45
    ml
    soy sauce
 

Method

Blanch the asparagus in boiling water for 1 minute.
Roll up 1 piece of asparagus in a piece of calamari and secure each roll with two satay skewers.
Make the tare by blending the sugar, sake, mirin and soy sauce.
Cook the calamari over medium coals until done, brushing frequently with the tare.
Slice the calamari rolls and serve with the remaining tare, Chinese noodles and stir-fried vegetables.
