Winter pears with currants and spiced red wine

    fresh pears, halved and peeled

    brown sugar

    butter

    currants

    twists of orange peel

    red wine

    ml
    natural yoghurt

    honey

    orange liqueur
 

Method

 
Layer pears in cooking bag. Sprinkle each layer with brown sugar and dot with butter. Top with cloves, cinnamon stick, currants, orange peel and wine and close bag. Using a skewer, prick a few holes in top of bag to allow steam to escape. Bake at 180 ºC for about 1 hour, depending on ripeness of pears. Remove and cool before opening bag carefully. Spoon pears into a bowl and pour juices over. Serve at room temperature with remaining ingredients whisked together. TOTAL KILOJOULE COUNT: 6 260 kJ (1 495 Cal). A portion: 1 565 kJ (375 Cal).
