Wholewheat cheese and garlic bread

    wholewheat flour

    cake flour

    butter or margarine

    mature Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1
    clove garlic, crushed
  • 3
    ml
    mustard powder
 

Method

 
Dissolve yeast and honey in warm water and leave for 5 minutes or until frothy. Mix flours, rub in butter, stir in salt and mix in yeast liquid. Knead for 10 minutes to make a smooth dough and set aside, covered, for 1 hour to rise. Knock back dough, knead in cheese, garlic and mustard powder and set aside, covered, for 30 minutes. Knead again briefly. Shape into a fat oval shape, place on a baking sheet and slash loaf diagonally to 1 cm deep with a sharp knife. Cover with a piece of oiled, floured plastic and leave in a warm place until doubled in volume and puffy, about 45 minutes. Bake at 200 ºC for 35 minutes. TOTAL KILOJOULE COUNT: 9 580 kJ (2 290 Cal). A portion: 1 195 kJ (285 Cal).
