Welsh rarebit with ale, apple and walnuts

Ingredients (10)

60.00 g butter
500.00 g cheese — white, grated
1.00 apples — thinly sliced
85.00 ml beer — ale
2.00 ml mustard — powder
Worcestershire sauce
cayenne pepper — pinch
salt
4.00 crusty bread — slices
60.00 g walnuts — chopped

Method:

Melt butter in a small saucepan. Remove from heat, then add cheese, apple slices, ale, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and cayenne pepper. Season with salt and heat gently for a moment until beginning to melt. Remove from heat.
Toast bread and divide cheese mixture between slices. Place under a hot grill until golden and bubbling. Sprinkle with chopped walnuts. Serve hot.
