    instant savoury white sauce
  • 200

    grated mature Cheddar cheese
  • 1
    large egg, slightly beaten
  • 15

    butter
  • 125
    ml
    ginger ale (or beer)
  • 5
    ml
    Worcestershire sauce
  • 3
    ml
    prepared hot English mustard
  • 2
    ml
    paprika plus additional for sprinkling
  • 1
    ml
    salt
  • 4
    slices hot white toast
 

Method

 
1. Mix all the ingredients (except the toast) together in a small saucepan. 2. Stir over moderate heat until thick. Do not allow the mixture to boil. The rabbit can be prepared ahead of time and reheated just before serving. 3. Arrange the hot toast (no butter!) on a serving platter or on individual plates and spoon the hot cheese mixture over it. Sprinkle lightly with paprika and serve immediately.
