    stewing mutton
  • salt and pepper
  • oil
  • 2
    onions
  • 1
    clove garlic
  • 125
    ml
    hot water or meat stock
  • 500
    g
    waterblommetjies
  • 4
    potatoes
  • 20
    ml
    lemon juice
 

Method

 
Season the meat to taste with salt and pepper and brown small quantities at a time in a little heated oil.
Add the onion and garlic and stir-fry until the onions are soft.
Add the hot water to meat stock (you may need more), cover and simmer until the meat is nearly tender.
Add the waterblommetjies and potatoes and simmer until the meat is tender and the vegetables soft, but still intact.
Season with extra salt and black pepper, and lemon juice.
Mix gently, ensuring that the waterblommetjies do not disintegrate.
Serve with cooked white rice.
