Warm fruit salad

    soft brown sugar

    water
  • 65
    ml
    honey
  • 5
    ml
    ground cinnamon
  • 5
    ml
    nutmeg
  • 2
    whole cloves
  • 30
    ml
    lemon juice
  • 30
    ml
    brandy
  • 24
    dried apricots
  • 820
    g
    peach halves, drained
  • 80
    ml
    sultanas
  • fresh gooseberries for decorating (optional)
 

Method

 
Heat the sugar and water over low heat until the sugar has dissolved and stir in the honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, lemon juice and brandy. Bring to the boil and reduce the heat. Add the apricots, cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Halve the peach halves and add to the saucepan along with the sultanas. Simmer for five minutes. Remove the cloves and transfer the fruit to a pretty glass bowl. Decorate with fresh gooseberries and serve hot with a scoop of yoghurt, whipped cream or ice cream and sweet crunchy biscuits.
