  • 'number 1' maize meal
  • water


Bring water to the boil and slowly add maize meal. Stir thoroughly with a whisk (lufheto) until smooth. Pound with wooden spoon (lufo) to ensure that no lumps remain. Pound and stir until cooked through. While hot, pour layers of porridge on plate to resemble stacked thick pancakes. Leave porridge to cool and eat with your hands.
