Vermicelli melkkos

    vermicelli
  • 1
    Litres
    milk
  • 1
    ml
    salt
  • 15
    ml
    sugar
  • pinch ground nutmeg
  • 15
    ml
    butter
  • 2
    ml
    almond essence
  • 7
    ml
    self-raising flour
  • cinnamon sugar
 

Method

Cook the vermicelli in boiling salted water until tender but still firm. Heat the milk and add the salt, sugar and nutmeg. Drain the vermicelli and add gradually to the milk mixture, stirring continuously. Bring to the boil and simmer gently for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the butter and, if necessary, thicken the mixture by sprinkling the self-raising flour on top and stirring it in. Bring to the boil again. Remove from the heat and stir in the almond essence. Stand for 5-10 minutes. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and serve. Serves 4-6.
