Tomato and bacon pasta

Ingredients

    oil
  • 3
    cloves garlic, crushed
  • 100

    back bacon, cut into strips
  • 400

    chopped tomatoes
  • 15

    tomato paste
  • 1
    fresh chilli, sliced
  • 5
    ml
    dried basil
  • 2
    ml
    sugar
  • 100
    g
    broccoli florets
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 400
    g
    spaghetti
 

Method

Heat the oil in a saucepan and sauté the garlic for 30 seconds. Add the bacon and fry until browned.
Add the remaining sauce ingredients and bring to the boil.
Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Set aside.
Bring a large saucepan of water to the boil. Add 10 ml salt and the pasta and cook according to packet instructions.
Once the pasta is cooked, drain and toss with the sauce.
Serve immediately.
