The best strawberry salad

The sweetness of the strawberries and the smoky flavour of the chicken make for a delicious combination.

  • 250
    fresh, ripe strawberries, at room temperature
  • 30
    (a handful) watercress
  • 30
    (a handful) rocket leaves
  • 250
    celery, finely chopped
  • 125
    goat’s-cheese roll, sliced (you can also use feta)
  • 4
    smoked chicken breasts, cut into thin slices
  • poppy seeds or toasted sesame seeds, to garnish
  • zest and juice of one lemon
  • 125

    olive oil
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Servings: Change Serving



Prepare the dressing: Place all ingredients in a container with a screw-on lid and shake until blended. Taste and season if necessary.

Wash the strawberries, remove the stems and cut into slices. Mix the dressing and strawberries and leave to stand for 15 minutes.

Divide the strawberry slices between four serving plates. Mix the watercress, rocket and celery and place on top of the strawberries. Place the cheese and chicken on top, scatter the poppy or sesame seeds over the dishes and drizzle with the remaining dressing. Serve with fresh bread.
