Tandoori chicken drumsticks

Ingredients

    chicken drumsticks
  • salt to taste
  • 1
    lemon, juice
  • 1
    onion, finely chopped
  • 2
    cloves garlic, crushed
  • 15
    ml
    fresh ginger, grated
  • 200
    ml
    plain yoghurt
  • 15
    ml
    tomato sauce
  • 15
    ml
    curry powder
  • 5
    ml
    sugar
  • 5
    ml
    ground cumin (optional)
 

Method

Preheat the oven to 180 ºC.
Spray an ovenproof dish with non-stick spray.
Season the chicken drumsticks to taste with salt and arrange in the prepared dish.
Sprinkle with the lemon juice.
Blend the remaining ingredients and pour over the drumsticks, ensuring that the meat is well coated. Marinate overnight, if possible, or for at least 2 to 3 hours.
Bake the drumsticks for 1 hour uncovered, or until done. Turn the drumsticks a few times during the cooking process to ensure they brown evenly.
Serve with rice and greens or a salad.
