    green, red, yellow or black peppers, tops cut off and seeds scraped out
  • VEGETARIAN FILLING
  • 250

    fresh mushrooms, finely chopped

    fresh brown breadcrumbs

    small onion, finely chopped

    ml
    Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1
    egg, beaten
  • 250
    ml
    milk
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper

    fresh origanum, chopped

    butter (or more as needed)
  • MINCE MEAT FILLING
  • 2
    slices white bread
  • 450

    pork or beef minced meat
  • 1
    small onion, finely chopped
  • 1
    egg, beaten
  • salt and black pepper
  • 30

    fresh basil, finely chopped
  • 6
    small tomatoes
  • 30
    ml
    oil
 

Method

 
VEGETARIAN FILLING 1. Combine all the filling ingredients except the butter or margarine. Divide filling and stuff peppers. 2. Place in a well-greased ovenproof dish, dot well with butter and bake at 180 ºC for 45 to 60 minutes. Serve immediately. MINCE MEAT FILLING 1. Soak bread in 150 ml warm water. Squeeze out excess moisture and place bread in a bowl. 2. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well using two forks or clean fingers. 3. Fill 6 peppers with stuffing, and replace lids. Peel and halve tomatoes. Grease an ovenproof dish with oil, place peppers and tomato halves in the dish and season to taste. Bake for 45 minutes at 200 ºC.
