Steaks in red wine sauce

    ml
    butter
  • 1
    onion, sliced
  • 15
    ml
    flour
  • 250
    ml
    beef stock
  • 125
    ml
    red wine
  • 5
    ml
    Worcestershire sauce
  • 2
    ml
    freshly grated ginger (or half as much ground)
  • 1
    red or green pepper, sliced
  • 12
    small minute steaks
 

Method

15 min
 
Heat butter in a saucepan and sauté onion until soft. Stir in flour. Add stock gradually, stirring continuously. Add red wine, Worcestershire sauce, ginger and red pepper and bring to the boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add minute steaks and continue to simmer for 3-5 minutes, Season to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper and serve with mashed or baked potato. Serves 4.
