Steak with sour cream marinade

    sour cream
  • 60
    chopped chives
  • 60
    wholegrain mustard
  • 20
    green peppercorns in brine, crushed
  • 4
    large beef steaks
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste


Blend the sour cream with the chives, mustard and green peppercorns. Arrange the steaks on a flat glass or ceramic platter and pour the marinade on top. Marinate for about 4 hours in the fridge, turning frequently. Switch on the oven grill. Season the steaks with salt and pepper. Arrange on the rack of an oven pan and grill for 5-7 minutes for rare or 7-10 minutes in total for medium. Brush occasionally with the remaining marinade. (The steaks may also be cooked over the braai.) Serve immediately with a salad. Serves 4.
