Spinach with ham

    margarine
  • 1
    onion, finely chopped
  • 15

    cake flour
  • 250
    ml
    milk
  • 100
    ml
    Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 125
    ml
    ham, cut into smaller pieces
  • 300
    g
    spinach (stems removed), shredded and steamed
  • pinch nutmeg
  • salt and black pepper to taste
 

Method

 
Melt the margarine and sauté the onion until soft. Stir in the cake flour and mix until all the lumps have been removed. Slowly stir in the milk and heat until the mixture comes to the boil and thickens. Stir in the cheese, ham and spinach and heat until warmed through. Season with nutmeg and salt and black pepper to taste. Serve with toast. Serves 3-4.
