Spiced sugar

    white sugar
  • 6
    cinnamon sticks
  • 9
  • 12
    cardamom pods
  • 6
    star anise
  • 1
    vanilla pod


Spoon a quarter of the sugar into a sterilised jar. Top with a third of the whole spices and the vanilla pod. Continue to layer the sugar and spice, ending with a layer of sugar. Seal well. Spiced sugar can be used in biscuits, fruit cakes, muffins, sprinkled over fruit salads or desserts, or served with coffee. Makes 1 jar.
