Spiced poached plums

  • 500
    g
    sugar
  • 1
    lemon, rind
  • 1
    lemon, juice
  • 3
    cloves
  • 5
    star anise pods
  • 7
    ml
    black peppercorns
  • 1
    Litres
    water
  • 2
    kg
    plums
  • low fat or frozen yoghurt to serve
 

Method

 
Bring all the ingredients to the boil with water. Boil for about 10 minutes. Add washed plums, reduce heat, cover and simmer until plums are soft - about 10 to 15 minutes. Chill and serve with low fat yoghurt, frozen yoghurt and perhaps a dash of alcohol.
