Spaghetti with bacon

    uncooked spaghetti

    bacon, cut into pieces

    onion, finely chopped
  • 405

    tomato soup
  • 125
    ml
    cream
  • 125
    ml
    water
  • 1
    ml
    salt
  • 1
    ml
    cayenne pepper
  • black pepper to taste
  • Cheddar cheese for sprinkling on top
 

Method

 
Preheat the oven to 180 ºC (350 ºF). Boil the spaghetti in plenty of rapidly boiling salted water till just soft. Drain and turn into an ovenproof dish. Fry the bacon in a pan till done, but not crisp. Remove from the pan and mix with the spaghetti. Sauté the onion in the pan fat till soft. Add the tomato soup and the cream and water and heat slowly while stirring continuously till the sauce comes to the boil. Season with salt, cayenne pepper and black pepper to taste. Pour over the spaghetti and mix. Sprinkle with a little cheese and heat in the oven till the dish is warmed through and the cheese has melted. Serve with a salad. Serves 6.
