Souffléd cheese on white

    slices white bread
  • 20
    ml
    butter, softened
  • 150
    g
    mature Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1
    jumbo egg
  • 5
    ml
    mustard powder
  • 30
    ml
    milk
  • 4
    basil leaves or sprigs of watercress
 

Method

 
Toast bread on one side only. Butter untoasted sides. Mix cheese, egg, mustard and milk together. Spread mixture over untoasted sides of bread, leaving a narrow border to allow mixture to spread as it melts. Grill until cheese fluffs up and turns golden brown. Garnish with basil.
