    dried salted snoek

    large onions, sliced

    oil

    green pepper, chopped

    potatoes, peeled and diced

    fish stock
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 100
    ml
    brown vinegar or lemon juice
  • 125
    ml
    chutney
 

Method

 
Soak the snoek in fresh water and drain. Boil in a little water for about 15 minutes until tender but not soft. Flake the fish with a fork and remove the bones. Sauté the onion in the oil until soft. Add the green pepper and sauté until soft. Add the diced potato and fish stock and simmer until the potatoes are tender but not soft. Mix the flaked fish with the onion mixture and season with salt and pepper to taste. Add the brown vinegar or lemon juice and chutney. Mix well and cook until heated thoroughly. Serve with rice. Serves 8-10.
