Shepherd's pie with pork sausage

    pork sausages
  • 820
    g
    pie apples
  • 65
    ml
    fruit chutney
  • 65
    ml
    raisins
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper

    medium-sized potatoes, peeled
  • 190
    ml
    milk
  • 30
    ml
    butter
  • half an onion, finely chopped and fried in a little butter
  • 1
    rind of a lemon
  • 15
    ml
    chopped fresh sage
  • pinch paprika
 

Method

 
Preheat the oven to 180 ºC and spray a large ovenproof dish with non-stick spray. Boil the pork sausages in a little water until done. Remove the skins and slice the sausages. Mix with the apples, chutney and raisins. Season and spoon into a large ovenproof dish and set aside. Cube the potatoes and boil until done. Drain and mash while still hot. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well. Season generously with salt and pepper and spoon on top of the sausages. Sprinkle with paprika and dot with butter if desired. Bake until the top begins to brown and serve hot. Serves 8-10.
