Sesame chicken with sweet-and-sour sauce

    dried breadcrumbs

    sesame seeds
  • 1
    large egg, beaten
  • oil for deep-frying
  • SAUCE
  • 400
    ml
    chicken stock
  • 40
    ml
    cornflour
  • 50
    ml
    vinegar
  • 30
    ml
    soy sauce
  • 70
    ml
    tomato sauce
  • 30
    ml
    sugar
  • 4
    chicken breast fillets
 

Method

15-20 min
 
Slice chicken breasts in half widthways. Mix breadcrumbs and sesame seeds together. Dip each chicken piece into the egg, then coat with breadcrumb mixture. Heat oil to medium heat and deep-fry chicken, a few pieces at a time, for 3-4 minutes until golden and cooked through. SAUCE Mix all remaining ingredients together and heat gently in the microwave or on a hotplate until thickened, stirring continuously. Serve drizzled over chicken pieces. Serves 4.
