Savoury puffs

    quantity choux pastry (see recipe)

    butter
  • 1
    onion, finely chopped
  • 60
    ml
    flour
  • 500
    ml
    milk
  • 200
    ml
    grated Cheddar cheese
  • 200
    g
    tuna in brine, drained
  • 20
    ml
    snipped chives
 

Method

35-45 minutes
 
1. Place teaspoonfuls of choux pastry onto a greased baking tray. Bake in preheated 180 ºC oven for 25 to 35 minutes, until puffed and golden. 2. Meanwhile, prepare filling. Heat butter in a saucepan and sauté onion until soft. Stir in flour and add milk gradually. Stir continuously until mixture is thick. Stir in cheese, tuna and chives and season to taste. 3. Slice choux puffs open as soon as they come out of the oven and fill with tuna mixture. Return to the oven for 10 minutes, then serve as hot snacks. They may also be served cold.
