    grated carrots or cucumber, well drained
  • 140

    cake flour
  • 125
    ml
    maize meal
  • 125
    ml
    rice flour
  • 65
    ml
    chana flour (chickpea flour)
  • 2

    salt
  • 1
    ml
    turmeric
  • 10
    ml
    ground coriander
  • 1
    ml
    ground cumin, or finely crushed cumin
  • 5
    ml
    ground red chillies
  • 2
    ml
    ginger, freshly grated
  • 2
    ml
    crushed garlic
  • 1
    medium onion, finely chopped
  • 5
    ml
    fennel seeds
  • 5
    ml
    sesame seeds
  • sunflower oil for frying
 

Method

Mix all the ingredients together.
Add enough water, a little at a time, to make a soft batter.
It should not be too runny.
In a shallow pan, heat enough oil over a medium heat to coat the pancakes.
Spoon some of the batter into the pan to form 4 mm thick circles and cook for about one minute on each side.
