Ingredients (12)

15.00 ml oil
500.00 g beef mince — lean
1.00 onion — finely chopped
1.00 green pepper — seeded and finely chopped
1.00 brown mushrooms — chopped
250.00 g tomato purée
60.00 ml stock — beef
5.00 ml english mustard
15.00 ml Worcestershire sauce
5.00 ml barbecue spice
sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
4.00 bread — hamburger buns

Method:

1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan and add the mince. Cook until the mince changes colour, breaking up the pieces with the back of a slotted spoon.
2. Add the onion and green pepper and cook, stirring, until vegetables are softened.
3. Add the mushroom and cook for 3 minutes.
4. Add the tomato purée, beef stock, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and barbecue spice.
5. Gently bring to the boil, then turn down to a slow simmer and cook, covered, for 30 minutes. Add seasoning and serve hot on toasted hamburger buns.
