Savoury egg roll

    butter or margarine

    cold water (more or less)

    hard-boiled eggs

    ham or bacon, minced
  • 125
    ml
    white sauce
  • 10
    ml
    parsley, chopped
  • GLAZE
  • 1
    egg, lightly beaten
 

Method

 
Preheat oven to 200 ºC. Sift flour, salt and baking powder into a bowl. Rub in the butter finely and blend into a firm dough with cold water. Chop hard-boiled eggs, mix with ham or bacon, white sauce and chopped parsley. Roll dough out to an oblong shape, 5 mm thick and spread with egg mixture. Roll up lengthways as you would for a Swiss roll and place on a lightly greased baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg to glaze. Bake for 25 - 30 minutes and serve with tomato sauce. Serves 4.
