Savoury cabbage

    oil
  • 1
    onion, sliced into rings
  • 1
    head cabbage, finely shredded
  • 5
    ml
    mild curry powder
  • 15
    ml
    soft brown sugar
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 215

    chakalaka, medium
 

Method

 
Heat the oil and sauté the onion rings until soft. Add the cabbage and sauté over medium heat for 5 minutes. Add the curry powder and seasonings and sauté for 1 minute to allow the flavours to develop. Add the chakalaka and heat through. Serve hot with braaivleis, baked potatoes and a mixed salad or cold as a salad with wholewheat bread and butter. Serves 6-8.
