480.00 g flour — cake
10.00 ml Baking powder
125.00 g butter
2.00 eggs — whisked
125.00 ml milk
jam — smooth, apricot
25.00 ml brandy
SAUCE
50.00 ml brandy
1.00 water — boiled
500.00 ml sugar
65.00 ml butter

Method:

Sift the cake flour and baking powder together and rub in the butter. Add the eggs, followed by the milk and mix to form a stiff dough. Roll out thinly on a floured surface and spread with the apricot jam. Roll up and slice. Mix all the ingredients for the sauce and pour into a well-greased flat-bottomed black pot. Arrange the dough slices on the bottom of the pot. Cover with lid and bake for 45 minutes on a stand over slow coals (arrange more coals on the lid and fewer underneath the pot), Replace the burnt-out coals on the lid with fresh coals if necessary. Serve with custard.
