Ingredients

  • 4
    cup
    cake flour
  • 4
    shakes baking powder
  • Salt
  • 1/2
    cup
    butter
  • 2
    eggs, beaten
  • 1/4
    cup
    milk
  • Apricot jam
  • Sauce:
  • 1
    tsp
    vanilla essence
  • 4
    cup
    boiling water
  • 1 1/2
    cup
    sugar
  • 1
    knob butter
 

Method

Sift the flour, baking powder and salt. Rub in the butter until it resembles crumbs.

Add the eggs with enough milk to form a firm dough.

Roll the dough to a thin sheet.

Spread with jam.

Roll up and place your rolls in a greased pot.

Bake the rolls whole, or cut into portions.

Mix the sauce ingredients together and pour the sauce over the uncooked dough in the pot.

Cover with the lid and bake slowly with more coals on the lid than below the pot.

Serve with custard or ice cream.
